Long Distance Relationship App

Pine for You keeps your partner's timezone, light and pulse on your home screen — the way a small piece of someone you love used to fit in a jacket pocket.

The problem

A long distance relationship is, mostly, a time math problem.

01

sync

You text good morning when it's their late afternoon.

The arithmetic gets old by week three. You start guessing instead of checking, and the small misses pile up.

02

ritual

The little check-ins are the first thing to go.

Daily rituals are what carry a relationship through the boring middle. Distance erodes them, quietly.

03

presence

You miss them, and your phone is no help.

Twenty-something countdown apps in the App Store all do the same thing. None of them feel like company.

A small kindness

You don't have to convince them to install anything.

— it's a feature, not an oversight.

Most couple apps quietly demand both of you to install, account, sync, and pair before the app does anything at all. It's exhausting, and the second person almost never finishes onboarding.

Pine for You is the opposite. The widget, the countdown, the voice journal — all of it works the moment you install it. When you're ready to invite your partner, they get a one-tap App Clip preview before they ever open the App Store.

Common questions

A few things you're probably wondering.

Is this the best app for long distance relationship couples?

We think so — for one specific reason. Pine for You is built around the timezone gap, not around generic counters and calendars. If you and your partner live in different time zones, the home screen widget gives you their local hour at a glance, with a gradient that quietly tells you whether their morning light is on or whether they've already gone to sleep.

Does my partner have to install it too?

No, and that's deliberate. You get the timezone widget, countdown, voice journal, and shared playlist on your phone immediately. Pairing is an upgrade — your partner can preview the experience without installing anything, via an iMessage App Clip.

How does pairing work when we're ready?

You tap 'Invite', we generate a one-tap link, you send it via iMessage. Your partner opens an instant App Clip preview of your timezone widget — no install required. When they upgrade to the full app, pairing is automatic.

What does it cost?

A single subscription unlocks Pine for You for both of you. We're finalizing the price; expect somewhere around $39.99 per year per couple. There'll be a free trial, no casino-mechanic paywalls.

When does it launch?

We're building toward a public launch in late summer 2026. Joining the waitlist gets you a TestFlight invite first and a discount on the first year for couples who help us shape the product.

Is there an Android version?

Not at launch — iOS first, native, with iOS-specific niceties like home screen widgets and App Clips. Android is on the roadmap but we're not setting a date until iOS feels right.

Couldn't I just use Apple's World Clock and Calendar widgets?

Honestly, you could. Apple's World Clock shows you a number — clean, accurate, intentionally just a number. Calendar shows you events. Neither is wrong, and they're free. Pine for You is for couples who tried both and still felt out of sync. The widget shifts colour through dawn, golden hour, and twilight, so a glance tells you whether their morning light is on or whether they've already gone to sleep. The countdown to your next visit lives next to the time. It carries your nickname for them, not just a city. You can tap it to send a soft haptic ping. If a numerical clock and an event list keep you connected, we mean it — keep using them. If they don't, we built this for you.

What makes Pine for You different from other long distance couple apps?

Most LDR apps in the App Store today are countdown timers, calendars, or generic widgets. Pine for You centers a single thing: your partner's timezone, treated like a small piece of weather. We do less, but we do the one thing better.
